Grid Community is a space for sharing real-world preparedness experience. These guidelines keep our community productive, friendly, and encouraging for everyone.

Share what actually worked for you. Practical experience beats theory.
Be Kind
Everyone starts somewhere. Encourage newcomers and respect different approaches.
Be Honest
Don't exaggerate or promote products dishonestly. Authentic advice builds trust.
Be Safe
Never share advice that could endanger someone. When in doubt, recommend professional guidance.
What We Encourage
- Sharing supply lists that have served you well in real situations
- Tips from personal experience — "I tried X during hurricane season and it worked because…"
- Constructive feedback on others' plans and lists
- Regional-specific advice (climate, geography, local resources)
- Lessons learned from drills, practice runs, and actual emergencies
- Helping newcomers build their first kit or plan
- Upvoting content that genuinely helps the community
What's Not Allowed
- Bullying, harassment, or personal attacks of any kind
- Hate speech, discrimination, or targeting based on identity
- Fearmongering or deliberately causing panic
- Spam, self-promotion, or deceptive affiliate marketing
- Sharing dangerous or illegal advice (e.g., improvised weapons, illegal modifications)
- Impersonating officials, organizations, or other members
- Sharing others' personal information without consent
- Political campaigning or partisan attacks unrelated to preparedness
Flagging & Moderation
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the Flag button on any post or comment. Our moderation team reviews all flags promptly.
What happens when content is flagged:
- The flag is reviewed by our moderation team
- Content that violates guidelines is removed
- Repeated violations may result in posting restrictions
- Severe violations (threats, harassment) result in immediate removal
Flag reasons include: Harassment/bullying, Spam/self-promotion, Dangerous advice, Misinformation, Hate speech, or Other.

Community advice should supplement — never replace — official guidance from FEMA, the Red Cross, and local emergency management agencies.
